Pope Jude Breeders' Cup 2021

Stateside racing guru Pope Jude has blessed us with his thoughts for both Breeders' Cup days.

Here is a teaser......

Bob Baffert’s #12 CORNICHE drew the outside in a big field – not great. He had been reportedly just average in his drills for the American Pharoah (G1) but that information proved meaningless with his trouncing of the field. A handsome colt, who was highly touted by the private clockers throughout his early two-year-old preparations, maybe he has just gotten confident with racing and is not all fired-up every morning? It happens frequently with top runners. The wise-guys were all on Gun Runner’s #4 PAPPACAP, who finished second, so it was a solid run no matter what. The Mark Casse trainee has shown solid ability, is improving with experience and owns a pressing running style which should serve him well in this speed-laden field. Chad Brown stretched #1 JACK CHRISTOPHER, by Munnings, out to a one-turn mile and he beat a solid Champagne (G1) field while rating nicely. Chad recently said, “…he’s just doing everything right.” Unfortunately, his rail draw is not ideal.
